Hi,
I am completely new to concert photography and am fairly new to photography in general, I recently went to a Reba McEntire (huge country singer) concert as just a regular fan and got a few decent photographs, if I wanted to use these, can I sell them?

for editorial use, probably. for commercial use, no, unless you somehow got a signed waiver specifying this.
good luck w/ the editorial use, though...unless she was doing something very unusual, a mag or paper would have either sent a shooter for a shot, or would just buy a wire image from a pro shooter who most likely had great access.

If any of you are interested in seeing my first attempt as a concert photographer, here is a few of the pictures http://www.flickr.com/photos/32425270@N05/. They were all taken with a FujiFilm FinePix S700. Let me know what you think.

Decent shots. Good first start. In my opinion there will probably be no buyers for your photos. But heck it does not hurt to ask.
Have fun!

Yeah, I did not really think so either. I just wanted to see what the guidelines were for big names. They are not great, not very good image quality, just something to remember, LOL. Thanks for the compliment though, I will definitely continue to try and achieve. I have some new equipment that will suit the situation better now and in my opinion I have learned a lot since then.

Sorry-- I did not mean to imply that your shots were bad -- they are good for a first time. Even the shots that I sell are very specific to what the editor is looking for.

Oh, no, no, no. I did not mean it that way. I am fully aware that they are not up-to-par to the hundreds of other very talented performing arts photographers. I took it as a compliment when you said they decent shots for a first timer. It made me want to get out there again with my new equipment.

Yes it is-- it was my grandfathers camera-- we used it having fun together-- they were built like tanks!
Have fun photographing! By the way-- doesn't Reba own an airline? I thought she did a one time.

I'm not sure, she owns a luggage, clothing, bedding, and shoe line and she's like 53, LOL. I found mine at an old thrift store, I love the weight of them. I have a 75-150 lens on it, I've never shot with it but I love the feel and look.
