Does a new camera and lens need to be run in? Does it perform better with use? reason I ask is it all seems to be coming together slowly when I take a picture lately (not as many bad shots).
Is there such thing as quality bokeh, if so what qualifies for good bokeh, or is the quality in the eye of the beholder?
Finally, isn't this hobby expensive;) and to be honest i havn't even started compared to most, lol:oops:

1)New GEAR doesn't need to be broken in, but the photographer does ;)
Glad you're getting it all sorted out :)

2)Yes, google around for some discussions/articles on good vs. bad bokeh (although it still tends to be subjective)
3)Yes, it's expensive :) But so is my other hobby, guitars and piano :)

I used to play all acoustic, have a Santa Cruz OM/PW, Martin D16H, 1956 00-18, and a Larrivee OM03R. Recently picked up a Squier CV 50s strat to mess around with and we also have a Yamaha P22 upright piano...Good stuff :)

Boy, I almost didn't look at the thread because you were asking for only those who are knowledgeable. :):) But I know these answers. :)

Does a new camera and lens need to be run in? However, you get better with each picture as you learn the nuances of your camera.
2. Is there such thing as quality bokeh, if so what qualifies for good bokeh, or is the quality in the eye of the beholder?
If the background looks pleasant to your eye, it's good. There are lenses out there that produce dodgy bokeh and some quite costly lenses like the 70-300DO.

This hobby has the ability to sucks thousands, even tens of thousands from your bank account. :)

Point and shoot digicams once cost US $1,000. Now, you can buy a far superior camera for US $150. One decade ago, a bargain DSLR cost US $3,500. Now, kits of DSLR's and lenses sell for US $500 and less, and those inexpensive cameras are far more capable than the $15,000 cameras of 1999.

If the prices had not dropped, this forum would not exist.
