I am new to photograhpy and i just wanted to post a pic that i took with my canon rebel xti with the efs18-55 lens that i bought on this site a few weeks ago. This is my first digital camra and i dont know what im doin, im just experimenting with this and learning as i go. I dont have a photoshop so this is just loaded off gimp2. Let me know how you like it, or thoughs on ideas... Ty

Looks Good, nice colours too!
With pets i always focus on the eyes, i have taken a few of fish (quite hard) they move to quickly!

A little bit of motion blur. Try a higher shutter speed with a higher ISO if you need to.

Nice little angel! What else do you have in your tank? Reef? I'd like to see some photos of the other stuff in your tank too!

Funny, I had the same thoughts going through my head, I love the aquarium fish hobby, had many coral reef tanks and fresh water setups in the past. The only thing that holds me back is not having a steady or long term residence at any particular location, in the last 5 years, I've moved 3 times and every time I had to move even my small tanks it was a PITA.

an overhead flash, low ISO and small aperture works good for fish, but I've heard a lot of reef keepers have trouble with the colors of corals when they use a flash, might be worth a try tho.

Pic Looks great for no flash, not sure how the XTI is on ISO noise but a shutterspeed around 60-80 might get a little less blur if the higher ISO setting doesn't get too grainy to see the extra detail.

wow i had no idea this tread had replies to it.. Unfortunately that fish i posted has died (I think he jumped out the tank).. I will post some more pics now that i know people are lookin...
