Mark III is with Canon right now so I shot with the 5D. I really do like the 5D and it worked great today. I do miss the extra 100 meters or so with the 1.3 crop but this was ok to.

Game featured two top programs here in Utah for boys soccer.

1. No face but I liked it still

I like the bgs. You don't get to see snow and mountains in typical field sports shots.

Thanks Bobby. We are supposed to get another storm this Sunday so snow will be up there for at least another month. It was 71 degrees here today!

Im really jealous of the location.

You can tell that youve been shooting with the MkIII because the timing is just a hair off in them haha. Itll come back though. Whyd you send it away?

Ive thought about getting a 400/5.6 but I think I am just going to get a 300/2.8 and a 1.4x/2x

Adam,

I sent it for the AF adjustment. Mine was not affected but I sent it anyways just in case. It was perfect for me, maybe it will now be "doubly perfect!"

The 400 F5.6 is super light and super easy to hand hold. It is though an outdoor lens only. If I had the money I would go that same route Adam (300 + 1.4).

Well I hope it works well for you when you get it back. My new MkIII seems to perform better than my old one ever did so Im just gonna let it be for now :)

Adam,

Yeah the one I have now performed MUCH better then my older model. I was not going to send it in but when I got a second body I thought, what the hell.

I thought I saw snow capped mountains in #4.

only thing I think to me is #5, to me, I feel a tad more view of the goal post would make the action better.

#9 is beautiful, only wish I had a shot of that when I was playing.

I think I cropped out most of the goal, would have to double check that one.

And yep we have plenty of snow here still :) Will till around end of april at least, maybe even June.

Really - for #5 I would crop much tighter - I would go only to the ref. YMMV

#8 - IMHO - I would have cropped out the player on the left

#3 - IMHO - I think PS has a tool for placing a ball in the frame - although I've never done it...

Palladium,

The reason I didn't crop that tighter to the goalie is because I think the player behind him tells a story as well with the look of anticipation.

I would never edit a photo like to add or take out stuff in PS :) Just not my style.

Thanks for the CC on #5, I agree with it

my thoughts on #5 to include more of the goal post is because that's the whole essence of the shot, if the ball made it or just missed it, without the goal post, it would be just 2 players looking at the ball after it has gone past them.

2 kinds of shots will work for scenario like #5, either the camera is placed behind the goal showing the ball going into goal, or from your angle, but with more goal post visible, such that it shows that the ball just missed the goal, with that, add in the emotion of the goalkeeper who doesn't want the ball to go into goal and the striker who wishes that he had just chose a tighter angle when he shot the ball, all that is enhanced with the presence of the goal post
