Another fine day in a North east forest, this time Harwood in Northumberland accompanied by "Petrolhead" (aka Peter). Bumped into KevB & the clan as usual too...always a pleasure chaps.
Now, are you sitting comfortably?....then i'll begin. Unseasonably warm weather over the last week or so saw the stage like a dust bowl, but i'm not complaining as for the 2nd weekend in a row i stayed dry ! *hurrah" etc.
You'll have to excuse the repetition. All today's stages were single use and we didn't have time to move as the cars took an unusually long time to come through..
1 An Impreza leaving a trail of dust in its wake..

2 Just for Glenn....A sideways, rock spewing Sunbeam.

3. Steve Perez didn't have it all his own way in his Focus WRC...

4. Rally winner Marcus Dodd in a slightly battered Hyundai Accent WRC..i love the noise these cars make. Anti-lag rules !

5. Paul Bird, properly sideways in his freshly repaired Focus WRC.

6. Reay Mckay & Robert Macdonald in the good old MG Metro 6R4.

7. And you can't have a rally thread without a MK2...

The stones weren't a problem. I just stood behind Peter and let him take the hits ;)

The stones weren't as much of a problem as the dust was !

We were lucky with light that stayed the same all day so once i'd dumped the rubbish it was a case of getting the sharpening right and batch processing. I doubt we'll be that lucky with the weather again this year :D
Cheers all :D

Did you add any saturation as they look a tad over saturated?
Nope..and i disagree :p Probably down to differences in exposure.
Now go and start your own thread. You've proved the lens works (my 1 shot theory ;) ) so now you have to show us you can use it :D

Hi Geoff,
What rough stages !
Cant fault these ,superb work, and like them all ,but would have liked a little variation in the shots.
The Sunbeam is my favourite, but the Escort is tremendous too.
Beautiful lighting in all !
Some of the best I have seen this year.

Like i said, variety is a bit difficult on a single use stage with 30 second gaps between cars. The stage was far too fast today to try and move between cars.
Thanks for the comment :)

Nice shots Geoff, really like the sunbeam & the mk2,closely followed by mr Bird in his focus :)
He must have decided on a change of colour while it was being repaired after the Malcolm Wilson rally......looks a lot nicer now if you ask me :D

Nice low angles Geoff. Sharp images and colours pop, C1's looking good. Mk2 & Sunbeam pics of the bunch. Look forward to the RallyX shots, mind you it looked a bit dusty again judging by Peter's shots - no forklift with water tub on it this year by the looks of things!

These are some of the nicest shots you've taken IMHO Geoff. Really like the Sunbeam shot, but the exposure and colours in all of them are really spot.

Roger Clark & Ari Vatenen piloted a couple of very famous "POO" Escorts. It's an Essex plate so was commonly seen on the works cars out of Borehamwood.
in all good set :D road look like in Acropolis ;)
If only we had weather like the Acropolis more often ! :)

It's strange how the dust made the Rally more enjoyable but at Croft it just made it a pain in the backside being there !
Great work Geoff, super combo camera and lens.

Second hand camera and cheap, paint-peeling, badly focussing lens if you don't mind ;)
Excellent set of pics, the mk2 escort just wins for me,hard to choose a fav:D
When in doubt pick the MK2 out...works for me !

High praise indeed Mr H:oops:. It was another spot that looked really tame until the Big hitters came out to play..
Cracking set Geoff. Very nice indeed.

Modesty never was your strong point was it ? :p
Cheers everyone. I have to admit i've enjoyed the rallies over the last few months and i'm not entirely sure i'm looking forward to the Circuit racing starting again....mind you, some half decent weather would help this year...

I have to agree, the rallying was fun and better for you, especially when there is some around with free sarnies :)

Great shots Geoff, really like the colours and I'd have to pick the one of Birdy as my favourite.
Cheers
