Dear Chris,
In #1 you got everythng out of the image that you could expect to get, but the sky being very bland loses points.
The wide angle effect in #2 and 3 work fine with #3 but is not appealing to me in #2.
For some reason, all 3 shots leave me with the impression of being backlighted - where was the sun?

Thank you for your response Robert. These are definately backlit which is why I chose to use the HDR technique to bring out detail in the foreground subjects. I had planned for this, and brought my tripod with me on my walk.
You can see the large flare coming from behind the tops of the tallest buildings in #2 and #3. I put the sun directly behind those buildings to create the glow. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the halo. I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoy it in these cases.
In the first image the sun is high to the center right. You can see the bottom of that large flare in the top of the image. Other shots of the scene have a stronger rainbow flare, but the rest of the scene was lacking due to position and aim.
I know what you mean with #2, and it's my least favorite of the three. I was less impressed with it when I got home, than I was when I was at the scene. I'm sure at this stage of the walk I was quite delirious, which is why I packed it in shortly after :) I was including it more as validation that it's not quite there.
Thank you again for your response. Always valued.

Looking at the image of Canada Place again, I can see where the blue shadows could be holding the image back. I used a mask to neutralize the blue shadows while maintaining the blue sky.
Better?

If I had to choose one of them it would definately be number 2 just because of the wide angle effect.

Picture 1 is lovely. HOPEFULLY Easter weekend I'll get to go there :) (from Calgary). Vancouver is so much fun.
