I'm trying to get my portables up and going...can't seem to get the 1DmkII to cooperate with Vista. I've updated all of the patches from Canon Downloads. Anyone else have problems? I'm running a 15' firewire cable...Can the length play havoc with it too?
Thanks,

uhm, well you are leaving alot of details out. Saying that "can't seem to get the 1DmkII to cooperate with Vista" is like dropping your car off at the mechanic and telling him "my car's broke. I'll be back at 5:00 to pick it up".

What exactly is going on? Are you getting an error message? If so, then what is it? What versions of software are you runnign? What is the firmware version on the camera? (you see where I'm going with this)

I have the camera connected to it...If I go to camera remote, it's very slow executing the program..then at that point, if I try to take a remote shot, sometimes it says "camera not connected"...as for firmware, I'm not sure what version I'm running...that's one I'll have to check into also.

I've had no problem tethering a 30D or 50D via USB on Vista. I know the length of the cable can cause issues with USB. Typically anything over 10ft won't work reliably without some sort of signal booster. I'm not positive it will work but you may want to try a cable shorter than 15ft for the firewire to see if that fixes your problem.

if you are running Vista 64, Canon don't support 64bit OS

What about your 30D, does it behave the same way ?

The 30D runs perfect...I think I'm
gonna try a shorter cable and see if that remedies the problem...
