Need quick tips....quick!

Shooting a wedding in about 3 hours (My first wedding, and im doing it for veeeeeeeeeeeery cheap). Im confident on my ability to get good shots but I have some questions about a couple of technicalities.
The ceremony itself will be indoors in a church so:

- Should I switch to AV (I shoot M). will that give better speed in getting moments?

- What are the Flash rules during the ceremony, no flash? or flash away??

should be interesting!, this one is actually more like practice for a bigger one I have next weekend... appreciate the help! :eek:

I've shot 5 weddings (1 primary, rest second) so I'm not really qualified, but seem as your in a rush ....!

If I think you need AV, then shoot in AV. It's about your ability, if you think you can shot manual then do it ... AFAIC it's more reliable if you can use it properly.

Flash is generally not permitted during the ceremony, but it's dependant on venue. I went to a civil ceremny and flash was allowed. Ask someoone before hand. Have you 50 1.8 on standbye just in case ;)

since it's well past three hours, all i can say is i hope everything worked out well for you. i'm crossing my fingers and hoping you at least decided on renting some equipment because the gear in your signature will be very hard to work with in an indoor wedding ceremony environment.

no offence taken. Ive never shot a wedding before so those questions just happened to come to mind right then. Is it my place to be there? YES, I did not ask for this wedding, I got a call and got asked to shoot it... and I told him I would do it for FREE, only because I want to build a portfolio. Ive been shooting long enough and have enough imagination to do a good shoot, Ive just always done it for fun, when it came down to a serious job i kinda freaked for a sec i guess. thanks for the input.


BTW: the groom called and cancelled about an hour before i was supposed to get there...

cancelled you photographing it or cancelled the wedding?

for future use, don't do a wedding for free, look at the stress it puts you under not to mention the hours you'll put in, putting up with that for free is totally nuts, doesn't matter if it's your first or last. I look at it like this, if you think you're good enough to shoot a wedding in the first place then you must be worth $. If you were a wood chopper would you chop wood for four days for free?
