I honestly can't remember how I found this forum. But if I were to take a guess, I'd say it was reviewed in another site and followed the link.

So how did you find this forum?

I don't remember. I had preordered the soon-to-be-released 10D and was looking around for a place to talk about it. I found the DPReview forums, but quickly realized that was a waste of time. I can't recall how I ended up here, but I've stuck around since then.

I found this forum a few years before I ever signed on ... in fact it was Pekka's galleries and articles back then.

I was dreaming of owning a D30 and panting over it for months,..

I googled "Eos D30" and found myself looking at images Pekka had taken with the D30 and if memory serves the 70-200mm...

When I found the forum later as I looked for a 10D... it was here that I found out where to get one (at the time they were virtually impossible to get)

Beleive it or not,. I was actually just "lurking" ... (i know I know hard to imagine)

I did a search for something like "Canon" and "forum". Had the S-230 at the time, but was gearing up to make the big jump to EOS from FD and eventually to Digital. A lot has happened since then.

i owned a canon g3 for two years, and didn't know how to do anything except Auto Mode. A friend of mine, who was a photography student, told me that I can do a lot with my camera, and she showed me some awesome samples. So then i went to Google and typed, "How to take pictures with a Canon G3" and this forum was one of the first links listed.

It was love at first site http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/tongue3.gifhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gifhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/tongue3.gifhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gifhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I was researching the digital rebel before I bought it.

If it wasn't for this forum I would have never found out the XT was coming out and would have spent it all on a rebel (before it even dropped priced heh). No doubt I got the XT instead. ;)

I did some Goole on Canon digital and A70... ended up here, seen several others but never left since. :D

...then...discovered PS... bought the 300D, the 70-200f4L, ordered some filters, thinking about the 50mm 1.8, the 1.4x teleconverter or is it the 100-400L?... HAAAAA!

This place is awesome. ;)

I'm pretty sure that, right after I bought my 300D, I typed "digital photography", or "Canon digital photography" into Google.

That was one of the more prosperous days in my online life, as I've learned much since joining, and have seen plenty to aspire to.

So, I guess it was a happy accident that I found it. I've spent a bit of cash since joining, but I'm glad I did.

My wife? Not so much...

Before I came here all I wanted was at most a Canon Rebel but now I want the 20d! Man alive finding this board has cost me a grand in the soon future. But maybe I should wait and buy one of the group members 20d when a 40d (or whatever) comes out, after all a 20d is one heck of a good camera. It'll be good for a long time to come. Probably at least 10 years.

Registered November. I actually held off for a few weeks, as I had some bizarre thing, that I wanted to join as member #20,000. I had a look.. kept looking.. Forgot, went back, and realised it was now 20,137... So signed up as 20,138. Silly me, I could have been 17,000 something.

NOW I REMEMBER!!! For Christmas 2005, I got my EOS 300D (i'm a little slow, not a learning disability just a slow learner and need to read things twice) and couldn't find anywhere in the manual about the noise I kept hearing in my camera.

Here's my first post ever.

Hello all! My first time here and this looks like a wonderful place to be. I just received my camera this past christmas and boy am I excited. I need the following help. My camera is making this small tingling sound when I tilt the camera back and forth, sort of like the glass or mirror is sliding or something very small is either loose. It doesn't sound like it's bouncing around inside. I just hear a slide back and forth. Also, I'll be shooting pictures in a classroom with kids and parents moving around, the room has fluroscent lights. I don't want to use flash. Please offer advice for shooting in this setting.
Thank you for your time!

and here are the first people to ever give me their time and expertise...

-Was googling for info on G3 Accessories and found POTN.
-Thought I'd see how the "Other Half" lived and took a stroll through the land of Canon EOS.
-Saw some work by a guy who goes by the name "Pekka"; establishing my "need" for a DSLR.
-The buzz at the time was loud with comments about how hard it was to get a 10D.
-Someone tipped me to check my local BB, I had some BB gift certificates; done deal.

No one in my RL really understands my Canon DSLR obsession; so I have to stop in here every now and then to feel 'normal'.
