Been researching for a while now....I need something that will not give me problems....I run CS3 and a few other programs for photography.....I also keep a lot of movies and mp3's. I have a old laptop at the moment....I also need and high resoluton screen....Would love the new 17in MBP but, it's out of my price range...

thanks for the comments.....

other than it being an HP laptop, not bad specs.
i would recommend a MB for someone with your needs at any budget, they are just less hassle.
i would say save up a little longer and get one of these:

Honestly, I am going to have to recommend going for a mac. I am currently on the phone with HP support over my laptop. I bought it a year ago for $1108 before tax. It is now nothing more than a paperweight. The problems began with the keyboard failing to register certain keystrokes. It was an intermittent problem, but it got worse and worse. I took it to Best Buy and had them send it off on warranty for repair. They sent it to their service center where the keyboard was reseated. When I got it back the problem was not fixed. They only honor their service for 30 days and being over 60 miles from the store, it is difficult to get the time to go back to the store. The problems grew from the keyboard to blue screens, stop messages, and memory dumps. The longest I was able to use my laptop was 40 minutes after reseating the ram before it blue screened. The stop messages have indicated mobo and memory corruption. I slaved the HD in my desktop so I could access my files. I talked to HP support through live chat and was instructed to do a recovery. After backing up my files and reinstalling the HD in the laptop, it will not even boot. The display will not turn on. I have reseated the HD several times to no avail.

What really upsets me is that the support tech I talked to told me that my laptop is covered under warranty. But now HP is saying that it is not. I expect them to stand behind what the first support tech told me. I provided the product number and serial number, he checked it, and then reported that it was covered for software and hardware. I hate when companies back-peddle!

This is my second HP laptop and 3rd personal HP computer and I will not purchase another one.
