I spent yesterday at Goodwood at a charity trackday.

The man who organises these days has two, yes TWO Koenigsegg cars as he likes both colours as well as a CLK Black, F40, Zonda, Lambo, Ferrari 430, Carrera GT, Bentley, Pantera and some others I can't remember.

I was invited as I own a company who are a supplier to his company, but anybody can come along, the more the better. You then pick a car/s, sweet talk the driver and have the ride of your life and offer a donation to charity. I was lucky enough to have 5 laps at full chat in a Porsche Carrera GT. Having owned a few fast cars (including a 996) I can honestly say I have never felt acceleration like it. Whilst most cars were hitting 130mph down the back straight, we were easily hitting 175mph and he was being conservative!

Anyway, let the pictures tell their own story.....

The two tyre marks in front of the C GT are from his drifting around the chicane on the previous lap! I was to experience drifting in a £350,000 car a few minutes later ;)

Fantastic day, a big thank you to Mark (owner of the C GT), Peter Saywell himself and I hope the charities got what they deserved.

It's interesting to hear what this was all about. I often turn up at Goodwood to take some photos without knowing the background of the event. Are you saying I could have had a ride in one of these cars in return for a charity donation?

Some nice pics on your gallery :) Here are a few of mine (the rest can be found here (http://www.coggerjones.co.uk/goodwood12/index.html)).

The Carrera GT

I think this was a genuine Ford GT40

Maximum concentration is required to take a corner in a Mustang!

Even the kids were having fun :)

good set and the rest are really good!

Yup, if you had simply signed in and then gone and asked any driver if he had a spare seat he would have taken you around in his car.... cost me £20 for a couple of thrilling rides (you saw how the C GT was being driven I'm sure )

The event happens every six months and all are welcome.

Ooh - something to bear in mind next time. I'm jealous of your ride in the Carrera GT :) Did you go out in the GT both times, or did you try a different one?

My only other ride was in the black BMW 335i which is owned by a friend. I knew he had had it played with by DMS and I was therefore expecting a rapid car.

Now I own a 535D Sport which is pushing out about 340bhp after being 'looked at' and is by no means slow. The 335i now pushes out about 370bhp and was in a totally different class off the line and quite rapid. Would be good to take mine on track and see how it compares on the straights and twisty's.

I have got to know the Carrera GT owner quite well (if you can do over a couple of days!) and he's promised me a second ride in October at the next Saywell day.

Typical - I just looked up the date for the next event, and it's right in the middle of my annual holiday :( Oh well, hope you enjoy it (and post some more photos)!

Sat 3rd Oct, according to the Goodwood Motor Circuit diary. It's a pdf file that can be downloaded from the Goodwood website (in the motor circuit news section, I think).

I'm on holiday when the next event happens :( I don't think my wife would appreciate it if I travelled back home during that weekend!
