These were the first baby pictures that I took and I did some research and found that I wanted to replicate some studio shots.....These were taken with just one flash and white backdrop. I built a little rig out of pvc piping to hold it up.

cc would be appreciated, thanks for looking

I think you nailed your studio setup! Great lighting - looks much better than the crappy Sears portrait shots my neighbor recently showed me (ugh!).

#1 I think is the weakest - not enough contrast?

Do you have a pic of the setup?
I'd love to see.

The lighting was simple, I setup up shop in front of a huge window in their living room. Just bounced my flash off the wall. The rig was only 5ft wide so for some pictures photoshopping was needed to fill out the sides.

I'll upload a picture later today when i get home.

Cheers and thanks for the comments

I can't remember the exact thread, but in the DIY section there was a great link to a website with the directions, materials and images on how to construct one. I made one for about $25.00. It's not the strongest backdrop stand, but breakdown, portability and of course cost wise, it's the best bang for your buck!

Heck, if you didn't need to portable you could build one out of galvinized pipe. :)

I think this is going to be my next DIY project....then a beauty dish.
I've been getting handy with PVC lately.

Try this website and type "back drop stand" in the serch box.
There are several different ideas here.
