Over the last few years I have been involved in Sports photography and am using a Canon 40D together with a 100-400 IS Lens and a 17-85 IS Lens.

I am considering moving into this field and wonder whether this equipment would be suitable for studio shoots

Do I need to buy more glass?

Is there anything else that I should be looking to buy - things that a studio would not normally provide (What does a studio normally provide?)

Thanks in anticipation of your reply....

The 17-85 is a nice lens but the 100-400 is way long for a studio. The EF 85 1.8 is a popular portrait lens, and you might look into one of Canon's shorter primes, one of the 50s or 35L.

I use my 70-200L IS lens in the studio and love it, use it closer to 200 than 70 whenever I can...to avoid distortion.

Many love the Canon 135L for portraits as well.
