I am a bit of a novice with my first digital SLR. I have a 350 and the manual came in French rather than English. Does anyone know where it is possible to download an English manual?
I do not understand the white balance grid and how it can be used to replace filters and give better skin tones to portraits. Can anyone explain?

The grid is for white balance bracketing.
From BLUE to ORANGE/AMBER (left to right) and GREEN/MAGENTA (top to bottom).
From my understanding........if enabled, your camera will take three shots....one in the middle, one with Blue/green tone and one with amber/magenta tone depending on where you place your dots. I personally never use this feature.....You are probably better off shooting RAW and using DPP to adjust white balance after the shot is taken.
OR better yet, use custome white balance with a grey card.
Hope this helps.

Link doesn't seem to work, go here and click on product/software manuals.

BTW, I just ordered the XT from Dell, waiting for confirmation on shipping. $809 plus $7 shipping plus tax.
