I just found out that the 20D will have a $100 rebate on it from April 15th through July 15th. That will help me out (after I pay taxes on the 15th).

Yes, I saw the announcement mailed to a local retailer. He said he just got it.

 That means a new canon SLR is in the pipeline to replace the 20D. I wonder what enhancements it will have.

I'm in the process of buying a 20D, do you have any suggestions for me? this will be my first DSLR. I would like to find the best package. Any advice on a first lens? and other equipment?
Thanks. Tella

Get the 17-85 IS USM lens instead of the "kit" lens. That gives you an effective zoom range of 27-136mm in terms of a 35mm lens. I got it with the kit lens which I just sold on eBay after I replaced it with the 17-85.

There is nothing at the Canon website about a coupon or rebate, so this is likely something a store is doing. Dell is offering coupon deals frequently. I wouldn't draw any conclusions about Canon's intentions based on rumors of coupons being offered by vendors.

I heard that in addition to the $100 rebate on the 20D there will also be a $500 rebate on the 1D MKII. I have read this on another forum as well, and was on a notice from Canon to retailers. If this turns out to be true, it may be just the incentive I need to opt for the 1D MKII instead of the 20D.

Maybe the rebates are meant to help w/ the new Nikon D50 and D70s coming to market.

Since it isn't yet the 15th, there won't be anything on the Canon website since that would compromise their current sales so that's not an accurate way to gauge the rumor.
I hope it's true, and Dell has a nice 15% coupon during that period. 20D for about $1100 would be nice. :)

The latest B&H ad shows the lens rebates, starting 4/15. Saw it in the May OP over the weekend.

Paper copy. You won't see it on the web until Friday, barring someone breaking the embargo. Rebate on the 70-200 2.8 IS was $50. I don't know if they're doing the multipliers or not.

would you be able to scan it?
Can you tell us the basics of the deals?
Any deals on the 20d, 100-400 IS, flashes, 50 1.4, etc?
