I need some advise. I am looking into a filter to protect lens. I had some say filter wasn't nessasary, it was just more glass to look through and cut down on the clarity of photos. They have just glass filters and then they have uv filters. Should I get filter and if so. Clear glass or UV Haze filter. Thanks for any advise

There's definitely a split in advice given in terms of using UV filters as protection. IMO, if you use high quality filters, there is no discernable image degradation at least to my eyes. Hence, I place a multicoated UV filter in front of all my lenses as added protection against bumps as well as dust.
Your eyes may be more critical than mine or maybe less so. Buy one and test it out for yourself with images taken with and without filter. If you notice an inferior image with the filter, then by all means don't use them. Just make sure you buy a high quality filter. I personally prefer and use the B+W line of filters.
