For the beginners (or shooting to family album or for the web only) I'd recommend Canon Power Shot Axx series. Pretty good value at a pretty nice price. I've placed a few of my amateur shots at:

I enjoyed your gallery. Do you have a wide angle auxillary lens?

Don, thanks a lot. Well, I use just a basic equipment. If I invest more, it will be maybe with some future higher type (S1 IS alike)... not with this small (but very efficient) "toy"... ;)

Those pictures are amazing! The airshow was fantastic. Btw, did you perform any form of post processing on these images? Sharpness or level corrections?

Agent, many thanks. :o I did just a few basic adjustments: cutting edges, stretching, contrast and brightness balance in PhotoPlus 5.5... Of course, shots would be more perfect with any high-end equipment (higher zoom lens, anti-shake, ...) and profesional desktop software (but mind the costs!). I guess, it's not so bad for this small (and operative to use) and quite cheep "toy" today, isn't it... For operative daily usage, family photos or web designers... And of course great shots could be caught with this series too at the half costs (comparing to heavier DSLRs) or even less (see amazing macros by megaweb: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=50124 )
