Those are very nice pictures. It appears you had a good amount of open sky to light the scene but were able to keep mostly clouds in the frame. It gives a dramatic effect.

I live near the Isle of Wight (chichester side) and have not been able to get pictures as good as those with any of my cameras, well done in deed.
I think most people are right, the first one is a sure winner.

Well done, fantastic atmosphere, excellent composition!
Just goes to prove also, that the 300D kit lens is not that bad if put in the right hands. Makes me feel better about using mine a little more :-)

Just goes to prove also, that the 300D kit lens is not that bad if put in the right hands. Makes me feel better about using mine a little more :D:D That's why I wrote this, "In my quest for absurdly simple lighting examples, I thought I'd try my droplight as a source along with the "well known to be crappy" Kit lens."

It's really not bad at f/11!

Spectacular images. I was very suprised to read that the aperture was f/5.6. These photos have tremendous depth of field. In my way of thinking a smaller aperture would have greater DOF. No offense....I just needed to ask. What am I missing or what do I not understand about aperture settings?
