There is a claim/story/lawsuit going around that a Law Firm from the Northwest is taking legal action over anyone using the term "Sportraits" - as it is trademarked by their client as of 1992. Any comments?

Well, first comment is this is probably in the wrong section with no photos - Sports Talk section would be better. Second comment, is there any articles or anything showing what's happening because I can't find anything searching the net for a "Sportrait" trademark claim.

Few companies I see have "Sportraits" in there name - that I could see being trademark infringement.

I believe that is the one...since it's in the NW!

Agreed, wrong section, but all you'd have to do is go to the US Patents and Copyrights Office Website and do a search.

As an aside, I wouldn't be surprised if the law firm is correct because considerding how cliche our country is (how often do we hear "big dance" this time of year), I dare say many photogs would use that term.

So - how does one move it to the correct section? Already checked the UPS...oh oh...that's copy written too!

The moderator will move it if it's appropriate.

However, it seems Gregg Riess is claiming that SporTrait is his registered trademark. (which it may be, but I couldn't find a record of it)
