I know Image Stabilization has no use in shooting fast moving sports, but does it hurt anything if you leave IS on (if your lens has IS capability) when shooting sports?

In my opinion, it does. The lens will attempt to compensate for movements that you do not want it to compensate for. That may cause some blurring (although it would be slight since you'll likely be at a fairly high shutter speed). That and I have found that IS will induce "camera shake" if you don't give it a second to settle, even at fairly high shutter speeds.

That and it will decrease your battery life.

In my opinion, it does.

Thanks for your feedback. It confirms what I have noticed also.
