Here are some new test shots with my Canon A95 with my friend's car. They came out pretty ok for my first time actually taking real pictures. All the pictures were taken in TV mode with 2", F2.8, ISO from 50-400

Okk welcome! Im pretty new here too, Ive learned alot from this place though. I have to say your pics are all over some are really good and some arnt. I will try to not be a hater and make comments about doing performance mods to a front wheel drive car. Seems like most of the people here are wildlife photographers so you might want to also find some more car spicific sites. But poke and and do some searches on here and youll find the goodstuff. Also you might want to turn around and head the other way right now or your gona be wanting a SLR sooon and it's even worse for taking your money then all the rice parts!

I'm not impressed with any of them, poor lighting and not a good setting for a photo.

Tv mode was probably *not* the mode to be taking these pictures.
I suggest you take the pictures of this car in this way:
1) Get a tripod... if in the US, go to wal-mart and buy one. The reason the blurs on the lights occur is from movement during the 2" open time of the shutter.
2) an F value of 2.8 is great for letting in light, but *not* while pointing the lens at a source of light. For this reason, I suggest that if you are going to set F values low, position away from the light source so as to not include it. In this set that I can see (only the last 3 pics load) the blur from the flourescent white and red lights detract majorly from the overall context of "shiny car". I see "shiny/blurry lights..then car" So: you *know* low F values are needed in low light, but blurs occur when viewing light sources directly.
3) If you go to the SCN dial on your A95 and keep pressing the RIGHT side of the circular navigation button, you can get to what is called "Night Snapshot", or you can try the dial setting between the fast shot (running man) and the landscape (mountain) to get automatic F and time values. I wasn't there to experience the lighting, but it appears to me the shutter time value was too long, and maybe the F value was too low.
The A95, I've found, doesn't do too well zoomed with flash on, taking night pictures without a tripod. That is about the worst combination you can do, besides going into a mode and taking extremes. :)
Now.. aesthetically, taking a photo at night on the top of a parking garage is unique, but is it the best place to begin taking pics? Probably not. Is taking a pic during the day going to help you learn how to take a pic at night? Probably not. But a shiny car in a field of cut grass, or near someone's pool, or on the parking garage's top level during the day with the sun behind you...those might be better places to begin.
There is too much distance from the car for these pics to be noteworthy...plus the added firehose/water pipe effects detract majorly; hence, my suggestion to get a tripod.
As for the LAST picture, looking into the hood/engine compartment, I have to give you a very big thumb's up! That's quite a picture! Way to go!
I hope this helps. Just never stop taking your photos, though. You *will* with a bit of research and persistence, find out a good way to take night pics of a car. :)

First off, thanks for the help. I was using a tripod. And for setting the F values lower, does that mean setting it higher? I'll try takeing some shots in the SCN (Night Snapshot) mode maybe tonight or some time later. Oh and how much shutter speed should I set it at?

thats pretty impressive considering the camera you used. i'd suggest you not try to block the car's view with the pipes and other foreground stuff. and keep it away from the walls. park the car somewhere in the middle of the parking lot (im guessing its mostly empty at that time). and probably a longer exposure (if youre using a tripod). either that or just photoshop it. very interesting car. i've never seen a transparent hood before.
