It had been many years since I'd been to Snetterton and I thought I should make one last visit before the good Dr. Palmer's "upgrades" ruin it forever. The combination of a quiet weekend plus an appearance by the Top Hat series seemed an ideal opportunity. The only slight problem was a lack of EOS 1D Mark III which was in the incapable hands of Canon Service due to the latest product recall. Ye Olde 1D Mark II had to bear the brunt of the work with a few addition snaps taken with Ye Even Older EOS 10D for a laugh.
Thankfully I met up with one or two friendly people who gave me someone to chat to between races; that always helps the day to go well. As for the racing it was the usual excellent Top Hat fare.
So without more drivelling on, some photos of cars...

Thanks for taking the time to look. There are some more here http://www.racepicsuk.com/c1670881.html should you feel like it. Lenses were the usual combination of Canon and Sigma junk.

840mm FL? 600mm + x1.4 TC?
Yeah, that'd be it.
Of this lot
#1 & #4 are with the bare 600mm
#2 & #3 are 600mm + 1.4x TC
#5, #7 & #8 are the Sigma 120-300mm
#6 is with the Sigma 500mm

Beautiful set Glenn of some beautiful cars and very hard to pick as favourite, if I was pushed to pick one it would have to be the 3 wheeling A35.
I must give my 600 a go with the extenders on to see if I can get results like that:lol:
Cheers

Thanks Ian. The 600mm plus 1.4x works pretty well but the 2x is a step too far. The effective f/8 max aperture strains the AI Servo performance of even a 1 Series body and 1200mm is a bit silly even at Silverstone.

Never under-estimate the ignorance of the public!
The older generation will get it, but it will be lost on a lot of the younger people who think Austin Healey is a former rugby player, Strictly Come Dancing contenstant and BBC rugby commentator.

#4 and #5 for me Glenn (nice to see you posting too). While I don't think of myself as an "old" person, I do get the pun for #4!

Indeed, it would have been good to meet.

My one is in for a busy weekend with both indoor and outdoor events planned so I'll know by Sunday evening whether it's OK or not.
LOL that was my very first car, I could never get it to do that though.
The guy was doing it every lap and taking a very odd line to induce it. I think he was doing it on purpose just for the hell of it
While I don't think of myself as an "old" person...
No comment :p

Will you be venturing up to wildest Norfolk for CSCC next weekend Glenn or are you appearing at a motorsport venue nearer home ?

I'm not really sure what I am doing. I have half a mind to go to Mallory Park for the 750MC meet. Not really for the racing as such but more for the breakfast; nowhere matches Mallory Park for breakfast!

Absolutely LOVE the Capri. I had one of those in college (albeit w/ a 2.0 4 and not a V8). It's always been one of my favorite body styles.
