Hello everyone,
Im more of a lurker than a poster, but I do have a question now.
I live in Vancouver B.C. but have only spent about 10 month here so far.
When I first came here in 2007, I was in burnaby and all the cherry blossoms were out and it was amazing.
Im just wondering if anybody has a suggestion of when and where I can go to take some good pics of them cherry blossoms? I live in Kits now but I will drive anywhere if you can suggest something.
Thanks a million
Jonathan

i'm not sure of good locations as i'm new to photography. I have however lived in vancouver for many years and can say that cherry blossoms are everywhere. It happens kinda fast once the weather warms up enough, so be ready and be prepared to do some exploring. Might not be a bad idea to scout out some locations beforehand, thats kinda what i've been doing anytime i go anywhere lately.

Apparently they're late this year. When the Cherry blossom festival kicked off last weekend, there was only one confirmed sighting in the city.
If I recall correctly, the festival has a "sightings" page on their web site: http://vcbf.ca/ (website is currently down).
Some places I remember -- Burrard skytrain station, Kits beach (south of the restaurant), Queen E park (especially when approaching from the south), and many side streets.
Note that the Cherry Blossom Festival is holding a photo contest. I haven't decide whether to enter or not, since the VCBF and London Drugs get full rights to your images just by you entering. Seems like a bit of a grab to me.

Take a trip to Victoria for the blossoms and see what's up at Bouchart Gardens at that time of year. Also look into Bird World and Butterfly World in Coombes.

Yes, some of the best cherry blossom views are in Burnaby.
Too late now, but for next year anyway the sub-divisions behind Brentwood Town Centre in the Brentwood Park area has some nice blooms in April every year - depending on the amount of sunshine. I have lots of pics for the last five years.
Lots of Sun = Spectacular Show
