Hi,,,,I am not sure really what to do, I would like to take my 5D2 with me on my upcoming cruise, But I feel very nervous about bringing it. I am afraid it will get stolen or something. Like if I am on a excursion and decide to go swimming, don't want to leave it alone :) I know I can leave it in my husbands care (he does not swim). I don't know, maybe I should just bring my point and shoot? Do you all bring your cameras where ever you go? and do you worry about it where ever you are?

I take both my "real" camera and my point and shoot when I go on a cruise. If I'm on a shore excursion that would require me to be away from my bag (i.e. when I'm swimming) I only bring the P&S and leave the other in my cabin (usually under the bed or in the back of the closet). But if I'm on a walk-about excursion or just exploring one of the shore stops, I take my big camera.

The above is exactly what I do on cruises. And I have been on a lot of cruises. I used a Canon PowerShot SD1000 as P&S.

Thanks, I have thought about that.. What about the fact that when you are on the Island and you look like one big dollar sign when you are walking around with it :) I guess that concerns me to.
I guess as long as I am not walking off all alone somewhere I should be fine :)

I've never had much of an occasion to be concerned for myself or my gear on a shore excursion except for the time in Jamaica where a young man offered to take a photo of me and my friend and wouldn't give back my camera until I paid him for his "service". Enjoy! Take lots of pictures!

Like Becca said. If you don't, you'll wish you had.
