I have always liked this image. A couple of my friends and one pro have told me it was really good to great. So, I use it when people ask about me and my photos. I didn't have a flash with me, and we weren't suppose to use one (practice session).

Is it just me or a little fill-flash to light up face a bit under the hat which would have allowed us to reduce the exposure on the hair in the sunlight?

Amazing, even with just available light and a shaded face with no fill flash, there is still a slight catch light in his right eye. Excellent job....I like it because it is a face into which you can read much history.

yes but he said that it was a practice session where they weren't supposed to use flash, so considering the constraints, it turned out to be a cool shot.
