Now that the 500D is announced and (for the most part) is a 50D in an XSi body (minus the extra fps and microfocus and a few other goodies), what will the 60D have that will really stand it out from the 500D without stepping on the 5D MKII toes?
Digic 5? 18 megapixels (the mean between 15 and 21) with larger sensor and better noise reduction? Weather sealing? Obviously it will have HD video abilities (whether good or not).
Post your thoughts here.

I'm hoping for 11-13 AF cross type points. They really don't need to bump up the MP anymore. There's really only a few things they can add on and of course they'll probably add video this time around.

I have a feeling it will be a 50D with video, a bump in FPS, some software feature like PL.
I would love to see an upgraded autofocus, 21 points at least, and a new sensor based on a new technology. I think we have taken CMOS as far as it can go image quality wise.

+1 on your gut feeling.
i would like to see them increase the DR and ISO performance in a new sensor myself.

I'm thinking the 60D will have:
1080p video with at least 30 FPS
New autofocus that allows AF to function in video mode per the recent Canon patent.
5 or 7 shot Auto exp bracket for HDR fans
Maybe in camera HDR processing
SD Memory card slot option to go with the main flash card.

I disagree, I'm hoping/thinking the next generation of semi-pro croppers (60D, D400) will be more usable at 3200 ISO. It would tempt me away from the D700 and 5D2. I think the crop factor is very useful to me, but so is excellent high ISO performance, so I really don't know what to do.

..will be more usable at 3200 ISO. ......so is excellent high ISO performance, so I really don't know what to do. That was my point with wanting some new generation sensor. I think we have taken the CMOS chip about as far as it can go and any improvement will be so incremental that it will be hotly debated on these forums if there was any improvement (like the 40D-50D debate)
Canon needs a new sensor that smokes current technology and return us to the days when Canon clearly outpaced Nikons in high ISO performance.
