I was shooting a short course event on the other track that ended early so I went over to shoot the bikes for a little while. It was my first time shooting these guys.

I agree, but some cool shots with the sand.

A slow shutter speed is the idea when panning. The only parts of the image that I want are sharp. #1 I was shooting the second rider, so he is sharp.

Yes it was the 70-200 2.8.

And I forgot that I did put those through Photoshop before I uploaded them.

This is excellent. Nice panning. What f-stop where you using? I wonder if increasing it would get you their heads in focus or the head is moving so much its going to blur no matter what.

Yeah that's about as far as you could have pushed it with DOF and still get the SS you wanted. The more I see them the more I like them.

I love these. I shoot offroad races at Baja and in so cal, and I have never shot short coarse races. panning gives you a great sense of speed. Using faster shutter speeds to stop the action only gives you a portaight of speed.

Yeah nothing great, just a bike in the air. I'll post some when I get home, I don't have any with me. I like panning in the air with trucks but these guys just get too high, there is no background just blue sky.
