I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good and fairly cheap ($500, preferably less) projector.

I have been shooting youth basketball tournaments and I have been setting up a 19" monitor on the second day to show a slide show of some of the shots from the night before. This has been a huge hit, and the kids and parents love seeing the shots of themselves.

The problems is that I have to have the laptop sitting out and everyone needs to crowd around the monitor. If I could use a projector, I figure I'll get a much better response, and more people will notice it.

I'd obviously need something fairly bright (in case I can't turn many lights off where I set it up), and I don't care if it can even handle video. I just want something that I can hook the laptop up to and let it go. Image quality is very important, of course.

I have no clue when it comes to projectors, so any help (and hopefully model-specific) would be great.

I use a DLP projector and a $65. screen for slideshows. You should be able to find a projector for under $600, maybe last years model cheaper. Keep in mind that you need more room than when you use only a laptop. All of them have settings for adjusting the look of the show and brightness. The bulbsa are rated for about 300 plus hours, and the projector I use has an hours meter. The bulbs cost about half the price of the projector!
When mine runs out of time, I'll be ready for a new projector.
