Does anybody know of a good case for these lights if I weren't to get the kit?

I don't have links to the specific products but I know that at B&H, for instance, if you look at cases and bags you'll find some non-specific cases that can hold 2 or 3 heads, reflectors, cables, etc. and I've seen them ranging from about $50 and up well into the hundreds.

If your budget allows, look at the case I've been using here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=662716)

What size of light stands do you have in that bag?

10's x 2, a couple of umbrellas, a kwik-stand. Still plenty of room after all my lights & accessories.

more directly, what stands? I have Promaster LS2 and Elinchrom/Manfrotto stands- both 10'. The LS2 stands are more robust and a big longer when collapsed than the Manfrotto versions. This is critical when buying a case, as not all stands fit and those that do might not be what you want to use on location.

I find that I would rather have a case for monolights and a separate bag for stands rather than one case for lights and stands together.

It may not be the best thing for others but it works very well for my and since I work mostly without an assistant I prefer a few smaller lighter bags/cases to make my life easier.

Robert, what have you found to work well with the lights? I've got a bag for stands already.

Hi Geoff,

I was fortunate to get one of the Elinchrom soft bags that holds 2 monolights. it's the bag that is sold with, or was sold with the 400BX kits. It's a very nice bag when you're trying to keep things light and you can safely carry and transport the bag. If the lights were not going to be transported by me I would opt for a hard case but with me I can monitor their safety. :D

Unfortunately I don't think the bag is sold separately but it may very well be available directly through BogenImaging as a replacement part.

Well, I do have the semi-hard case that I got with my lights. I could use that but the zipper is flakey; splits wen I close from one side, but not the other.

That case is ok but I'm talking about the low profile bag that places the lights in 2 compartments side by side and has a large pocket on the outside.

Ah ha, I didn't realize it was sold separately. That is the one. I like it a lot. As I said, I wouldn't use it if gear was being loaded and unloaded by someone else but as part of my portable kit I find it to be a great bag for strobes, umbrella reflectors, power and sync cords, spare fuses, etc.

it's on my wish list. I might be able to get it from my local store also.

You know when searching about B&H this bag never popped up. I like this one. Sure going to be adding to my wishlist too :)

I sometimes carry my Ranger heads inside a small Domke bag, depending on what else I'm packing (the padded inserts fit like a glove). That way I don't have to buy a separate bag just for them (I have the hard case supplied with the kit). So, if you have any cheap camera bags around, give them a go, they just might fit.
