Another b&w conversion. I'm working on these. Any good?

I don't like the composition - portraits should be in portrait format.
What I do think is quite clever is the repeat of the profile in that deep shadow to the left. It's things like that which raise the interest in an image.

Thanks for the comments Robert. This piece is actually a plant holder that sits atop of my book case. It's really a neat piece. I've reshot based on your feedback, but I'm not sure it's as successful with the mystique the first one seems to have. But it was worth another shot, and I like the b/w conversion of this one. It's shown in it's natual setting, uncropped.

I think the original had better tonality, and I like your word, "mystique". Very appropriate.

What I think is weird in this photo (especially the first one) is that the bright face (Thats just barely drifting oof) is the one the eyes are drawn to and that's a bit distracting... enough so that I didn't notice the dark face till I read the comment below the photo. I think the dark one would be very cool and mystic if it was alone (that dark) as a profile portrait.

kanonshooter, I think your vase has some serious artistic potential. As said already, portrait would be the way to go. Please experiment with this piece some more and see what you can produce.
