Howdy all,

I read that i could use my Hot shoe flash on a stand not connected to my camera (Canon 450D) and that my in built flash could trigger my hot shoe flash remotely?

I read and the re read my manuals, and they only hint that the only way i could do this was to have a 580ex (i think) as a master and my 430 as a slave unit?

could anyone help with with this?

im feeling i read wrong about the pop up flash triggering the flash!

Thanks for you help

Some Sony cameras and Nikon cameras can do that. Not Canon sorry.
What you read on your manual is correct, you need a 580EX (and II) or ST-E2 to remotely control your 430EX II if you would like to use E-TTL.

Or you can trigger it in manual mode using radio triggers like the expensive pocket wizard, less expensive skyport and cubersync, and the cheap ebay triggers (I have the CTR-301 and for my use, they work fine).

Cheers

I bought a speedotron digital slave trigger ,I only tried it last night hooked it up to my vivitar 285,then took a flash shot so my popup flash fired and the vivtar which was a distance away, was fired by the slave trigger.
This is what I bought.
