Hi All,

I've just been accepted to Alamy this week and am keywording/sorting the first images but have hit a stumbling block as this is the first time I've dealt with licensing.

I've read around the topic on Alamys site etc and the stickies on here but would like someone to confirm my thoughts before hitting that licensing button as it cannot be reversed.

The picture is of the Empowerment Sculpture in Lincoln, UK. It's a public art sculpture.

From my understanding I would need a property release to sell it for commercial uses as the sculpter owns the copyright to the sculpture? Or am I incorrect and since it's a public piece of artwork it's fair game?

It's the "Does this picture contain property that needs a release for commercial use? *" thats getting me as if I choose yes it's "Licensed" only whereas if I choose no the "Rights Free" option is available too.

Any answers appreciated!

The image for reference

Subscribing to understand better myself but I think in such situations the image can only be for "editorial usage" or at least I thought I read or was told that previously when any image requiring a release was put on stock without one???

But his question is whether or not this image would actually need a release, as it is public art in a public locale. My background is journalism, so I've never had to deal with this issue before.
