i have looked on this section for a good hour. i am completing quotes for weddings. this is my first year and i can't figure out what to do about prints. is it easier to set up an online section and get the printed and mailed to their house? how does that work? maybe include options with wedding books and other wedding stuff?

There are a lot of different options out there with a lot of different ways. If you are internet saavy, you could probably build your own storefront using your own URL. I am not that saavy so I rely on the online gallery programs out there to do that. I use InstaProofs right now because there was no start-up fee, just a 15% charge of sales. Which is high, but money is a bit tight right now so this works for me. Also I like that they don't do the printing for me. I like being able to just get the orders and money and then deal with the printing at the lab of my choosing or even print myself. I like being in charge of quality control.

Then there are sites like SmugMug that charges you a start up fee, but does the printing for you, and Collages.net that charges you per-event. Depending on what your think your sales will be like you can choose the option that works best for you. I

I use Photographers Shopping Cart, running on my own server, it's pretty easy. People choose their prints, it emails me, I have my lab print them then mail them to the customer. They pay either using paypal online using credit card, or by cheque or bank deposit. You can include options like "select for album" and digital download - though I don't offer either. Check my wellington wedding photography website (http://www.wildphotography.co.nz) to see it working, click proofs.
