This is as shot. Only resized it. Used a polarizing filter on the lens.

Thanks for all the feedback. Any sort of Patriotism was simply a matter of luck. I walked up and sat down on the porch, looked over my shoulder and viola! the shot was there.

Sweet tea is the nectar of the Gods. Any true southerner will tell you that.

Is it just me or does the glass look tipped to the left? The photo is fine, it is just a question only the author can answer.

I think the glass looks tipped and leaning forward, the perspective makes it look like it might tumble over.

I did my best to make sure the camera was level. I think this is a result of the perspective. I was behind and to the right of the glass. If you look at the pole in the left of the picture it appears to be mostly vertical. The only issue may have been the rail it was sitting on. Didn't really notice if it was tilted in or not.

I really appreciate all the feedback!

duckytn: I like the shot. I don't draw any inference to patriotism from the photo. It's more a tribute to relaxing afternoon with a cold glass of ice tea.

No. He meant latent. If it was blatent, it would have been in focus and the iced tea would have bee out of focus.

thnx belmondo. i did indeed mean latent, as in more hidden. if the flag were the subject, which it is not, then i would have said blatent.

Better go check merriam-webster on that one bud.
latent: present and capable of becoming though not now visible, obvious, or active
blatant: completely obvious, conspicuous, or obtrusive especially in a crass or offensive manner
However, going back to your original statement, "latent american patriotism," the usage could be correct. But since the flag is an obvious patriotic symbol, and it is visible, it seems like sketchy diction to me.

Okay, gang. Lets limit our remarks to the picture.

Jibberish has explained his comment, and that should be considered a closed subject at this point. Further discussion on anything other than the photo will likely lead to locking this thread, and that isn't fair to the person who posted it.

Thanks for your cooperation.

I think it'd rock if the flag was in focus.
