Hi,
Went to Cascais last friday to have a dinner with friends and snaped some photos of the bay by night.
It's a beautiful place to be either in the night or day.

I hope you enjoy. ;)
Any comments are very welcome.

Beatiful pictures, looks like a very pretty place. Where is it?

Hello Viczig,
Thank you for your comment.
Cascais is a City by the sea (Alantic Ocean) just some 12 Kilometers from Lisbon, in Portugal.
Turism is the main activity, but there's lot's of regular commerce and everywhere.

Just Google it and you'll find loads of info on this place.

Thanks again.

Nice photos! I had to leave before dark, but I got a few day shots of the place. Here is one:

Hi rssfhs,
Beautiful photo you got there.
I have been on that exact location on the same evening but chose to shoot the marine on the left and the mansion/palace on our back. Not with very god results as this is in a small bridge with some traffic and also people passing by. Tripod and patience didn't work there for me...

Glad you liked the shots. ;)

I seem to recal some beautiful photos taken by you of Sintra some time ago... but then also some from Japan I think...

Are you Portuguese, Japanese or you just travel a lot? :D;)

I'm half English, half Norwegian, grew up in California, studied in Switzerland and am currently living in Japan.

Wow!

Then please be welcome in Portugal anytime (though I suspect you already feel welcome ;) ). Someone who takes photos like you do is always an asset! :D

You might decide to retire here.

The last picture, did you do any photoshopping? The colors look good. Was wondering how you got that look.

If you are refering to my picture, yes, I did a touch of Photoshopping: Levels, saturation, dodge and burn and unsharp mask I believe. But mainly I used the magical Portuguese light. :-)

Thanks for your kind invitation JMAS! I am a musician though, we normally don't retire.
However, I will certainly be back someday to see my friends, to give concerts and of course take more photos.

You know that's what Win Wenders said about a movie he shoot here?
I've travelled a bit and reached the conclusion that it is true that there's something with the light here.
Can't figure out exactly why and explain it though... and of course I may be biased. ;)

Soo you are a musician, he? Well, be sure to let me know when you come here.
Maybe I like your music as much as your photos. ;)

I knew you would recognize it, Marie. ;)
That train ride is indeed a pleasure.
Many times when I am headed that way (by car) I choose the seaside road instead of the highway just for the joy of the ride.
It's a bit dangerous, though as one can get distracted...

Thank you for your kind comments, Marie.
I'm glad you liked them.

You know what Craig? You play beautifully.
Wonderful really. I can only imagine how it felt in S. Vicente's Church.
My wife had a music teatcher and dear friend that was also a musician for the Gulbenkian Foundation, and he used to play on that organ (whenever the equipment was working, which was mostly not). I knew him in his last years, and I can confirm that he never retired until he passed away. He was one of the few people with clear access to that organ and he loved to play it.

Small world we leave in. ;)

Looking forward for more photos and music from you.

And do let me know when you come here to play, please.

Mills,
Thank you for your kind comment. Those were also my favorites, in that order.

Fortunately I shot them in RAW, otherwise I could never take out the yellow cast from the tungsteen light's, as the color temperature had to be decreased more than the in-camera WB normally allows.

weemannie, Ferdinand and Sandy

Thanks for your nice comments about the photos and most specialy about my country. ;) I do love it and I'm redescovering all now with this new hobby.
Strange thing about photography is that it makes us look at things with more detail and from different angles, even when there's no camera arround.;)
