These were shot by my business partner Nick after a practice session with me posing for him the night before (see last pic in the set )

He had never shot a maternity session before and only bought the background and umbrellas the day before so overall I think he did ok...... my posing the night before was obviously worth my pain and embaressment.

Love these! #5 is my favorite. But maybe smooth her skin out a bit since you can see every single vein in her body probably because of the temp of the room. But it's a bit distracting from the pic.

Nice efforts... some great images here. Find mom a bit too pink in 6... but otherwise have no real nitpicks... Thanks for sharing and good luck in the future.

These are great! I really like 2,3,4, but they're all really nice. I agree with Michael about #6 though.

My wife is due on June 20th so I need to take some photos of her. Care to share what kind of blocks those are? They're cute and I'm sure my 2-year old would love to play with them after the shoot is over. :D Also must remember to give myself some boob action as well...maternity photos...always a good excuse! :D

Bought the blocks from an Early Learning Centre store here in the UK for £10, I would think most kids/baby stores sell them though ... definitely a good buy though because they were used in quite a few different shots additional to these and the ones we showed on our blog.

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments

What background did you pick up? I'd love to have one like that. But I won't be doing anything professional with it. Just would love to be able to lure friends and unsuspecting acquaintances to let me practice on them. :)

Its just a paper roll, 2.7 metres wide by 11 metres long, so when a bit gets dirty you just tear the end off and roll out some more.

£40 in the UK so figure about $40 in the US.

We also bought a support system for the roll which was about £100.

Would like a black background next.

Thanks Jon. I'm going to go looking for where to pick some up at near me.

But I'm cheap (since it's a hobby), I may try building a stand from PVC.

This was the very basic lighting setup we created for the shoot, definitely be a bit more adventurous the next time we have chance to shoot something similar.

Btw the cool PSD file used to create this diagram is available here for free > http://www.kevinkertz.com/fm/LightingSetup.psd.zip very good of him to give it away for free, I can imagine quite a few who would be selling it.

Well worth checking out his portfolio here as well > http://www.kevinkertz.com/

Few more pics from this shoot are on this post here on our blog. Boundless Photos Maternity Photos (http://boundlessphotos.blogspot.com/2009/03/maternity-session-with-mon-and-jon.html)
