Were the colors really that rich or did you crank up the saturation on the image?

I have been working on a "dead animal" project to accompany a short film, it never occured to me that an image of a plant could be so compelling, especially in color. It really works when the subject, a rose, is tied to so many emotions in earlier stages of bloom. Nice job to include the near foliage in DOF and the rest out, so often it is just the flower in focus. Roses do smell sweet when in this state. Great shot.
