Hello, I am thinking about getting a SumgMug Gallery (Power, Pro is to much for me) I wanted to ask do you have to pay more for having .com and not the "Your name" .smugmug.com? Like do I have to go with Pro to do that? Or is that not at all related to that? I want to have me name as my url.

Heres what kind of photos I want to put on.

If you want your own domain name (say, www.danielvincent.com), you have to get that separately. You can then set it up so that anyone who goes to that URL goes to your smugmug gallery.

Hi there, This link (http://www.smugmug.com/photos/photo-sharing-features/) lists the features of each of the levels of smugmug, and the custom url, ie .com is avalable to power users.

If you want 50% off your 1st year enter "flickr" as a discount coupon when signing up and also enter 3MDk82MhINcPg for an additional $5 discount.

With that level of discount you could have a pro account for the 1st year and then downgrade to a power user account after that.

I searched about it little bit and saw your requirement on smugmug pro account features. You can check that here
http://www.smugmug.com/help/professional-accounts

It have step by step instructions to how to use www.yourdomain.com instead of www.yourname.smugmug.com
You have or haven't the domain yet, it doesn't matter, this Page will show you solution of both ways.

Hope this helps :)

I use godaddy.com for my .com's. $9.99 each year. just set the cname on godaddy, set the pointers to smuggy. very simple, great tutorials on smuggy.

all takes about 2 mins for you.

Yeah, custom names are only available with Power and Pro accounts. But I would highly recommend going with a Pro account because of the Flickr discount. You can check out my site, www.hrephoto.smugmug.com (http://www.hrephoto.smugmug.com), to see what simple customization can acheive over Standard and Power accounts.

I just went with a pro account for the fun of it...and the ability to customize is quite impressive. Even more impressive is the level of service provided for supporting users of all experience levels.

I am having a bugger of a time moving my domain from my old registrar, they are usually helpful but I just am leaning toward GoDaddy more and more these days. I don;t have a lot of names registered with them yet, maybe 10, but eventually all but one of two will likely be moved to their service.

I have Smugmug pro, and I love it! It's super customizable, and the ppl who run it are top notch. It might be a bit more money, but like everything else in this field - you get what you pay for!

Sorry that I offended you ;)

And @ cbouchez, I was at the game and I had good seats with a 70-200 f/2.8L IS. The guy out front said that someone would tell me I couldn't use it, but apparently they wouldn't do that to a little kid.
