I have been working on DOF as part of the moving focus one needs to watch while tracking birds in flight. I was hopping to catch this one on the fly but as you can see the DOF is only six inches . . . I need more light in my neck of the woods.
Anyway I liked the background blur and the way the bird blends into it surroundings . . . nature watches out for her own.

I love these birds. Especially when the female does her wounded bird act if you get too close to her nest.
I like the blured background. I think it makes the bird stand out more.
I've been cranking up the iso in lower light situations and it works pretty well. The noise isn't too bad, especially if I run it through Neat Image.

To see with our eyes . . . and yet with our heads, to see the background blur, or to at least to hope for it and that you have your subject in that narrow band of focus . . . what a great hobby this is. To see what can not be seen. Of course I don't ever count out luck . . .
I think I will print this one.

Those whom go out seem to have more 'luck' than those who stay at home. ;)
