I have a bulky camera bag that holds my camera (XSi) and my lenses (18-55IS and EF 28-80) and my video camera and extras. But I have four kids ages 10 to 22months. I need a bag that I can slip my camera with one lens into and preferrably strap it too a belt. Something compact for those field trips or the park or chasing after the 22 month old. There are so many does anyone have one they love!

I use a Lowepro Rezo TLZ 20 for this purpose:

It might be a little big for the XSi + 18-55. I've been able to barely fit my XT with a 17-55 f/2.8 attached. I think I've even had an XT with a 28-135 attached along with a 50 f/1.8 jammed in there. The bag does have a loop that could probably strap to a belt, but I have never done that. It seems like it would be uncomfortable that way. But I have strapped it onto the side of a backpack, which works quite well. With kids, I'm sure you'll always have a bag of something to carry, so strapping the camera bag to that seems like it would work just fine.

Great, I love amazon reviews. Sounds like this might be a good choice for my needs but I will see if anyone else comments first. Thanks

Have look in your local bag shop rather than the camera store.

Domke's F-5B (http://www.tiffen.com/displayproduct.html?tablename=domke&itemnum=700-52S) comes with a shoulder strap and also has a belt loop. You can either put it on your regular belt or a web belt like an army surplus canteen belt, a tool belt, or Domke's own web belt. It holds (for me) an ungripped 20D or 5D with 24-70 and a 580EX snugly. I use the F-5XA for an SX-1/SX-10 and small flash/batteries.
