hey all i need some help i want a point and shoot camer that is fast meaning if my little rug rat is running around i can pick up the camera and take a few shots really fast let me known please

Really, keep the XSi and Tammy (or the Nifty) handy. That'll be faster than 99% of the P&S on the market. Set it to ISO 1600 and don't worry too much about flash.

oh this for sure i was asking for a friend and i really dont know anything about P&S he wants one that can fit in his pocket but that he can still go out and take pictures well mountain biking

How big are his pockets? If he's wearing cargo pants, maybe an SX200. Otherwise, maybe the SD990. But they aren't going to floor anyone with their response time except in bright light. Focusing is the big speed brake on P&S if there's decent light.
