:oops:I have a red filter I bought for my film SLR. I think I used it once, but it made everything too dark to see through the viewfinder. Now I have an XT which brings up a couple of questions:

1) Does it make matter if I use the filter while shooting B&W?

2) It's artistically more sensable to shoot in color and use software to convert. Does anyone else have a problem with the color image just being red, while the converted image doesn't really look any clearer?

If you can shoot in raw filters don't matter - I quit using mine years ago. Except for NDs or polarizers. I use software filters instead - NIK's Silver Efex is amazing. In case you didn't know, shooting in BW in a digital camera means nothing unless you open it in the Camera's provided software. I use Canon and shot once in BW, opened the image up in PS - and it showed up in color. So - shoot in color and process the image to the end product you want.
