Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 el cheapo kit, non IS

I've had a look and cant see a thread for the el cheapo kit lens. I would love to upgrade but I still think it's worthwhile posting some that I think are OK.

I've had one for over a year now as a starter zoom lens and finally in the position to upgrade. Its a pretty basic zoom to be sure, but it can capture the occasional good photo. I mean, it does let light through and can be focused, so it is functional on some level at least. :lol:

I do get the occasional good photo out of mine...but more often then not the focus is off and the images are blured. I can't wait till I get something a lil better.

Ok. Ill contribute to this dead thread simply because I have gotten great shots from this lens! But ONLY under the right light conditions. It serves me fine until I get the 70-200L. All taken on my 20D:

I liked the focal range of this lens but it wasn't great quality. I've since sold it, along with my 400D which I would have happily kept.

This lens is not the ideal one, but the bang-for-the-buck is nothing to be sniffed at, especially if bought with recent/current promo (less than $50 if bought with T3i or T2i or T3 via Amazon, IIRC).

Anhinga, 1/500 sec, f/5.7, 300mm, ISO 200, cropped about 50%, and re-sized for forum, of course:
