I took an evening drive tonight and found this ringneck with a trio of hens . . . looked like a party so I stopped and took a few photographs of them. I guess it is that time of year, but his tail feathers don't look as good as they should. I love to hear these in the early morning, winging over the valley on their way to the marsh for a drink or such.

Nice pic, RJ. I've only seen these in books. You have some of the neatest birds out there.

Nice looking Rooster. Photographs do not do this bird justice, but yours comes close!

Thank you guys . . . and Maureen, lol. The colors of the birds are, not as nice as I think them in the fall, or perhaps my old memory is failing me. Either way the feathers are in better condition. Winter is tough on these at time. This year was very hard on the birds . . . good to see a few made it.

In these parts, we that a Pheasant! Very plentiful all around here. Unfortunately, also very commonly seen as road kill :-(

Pretty pheasant. The only place I've seen one of these is at a zoo, so this is a treat!

Thank you guys . . . that late afternoon sun looks good on him. Pheasants seem to be stupid this time of year, perhaps it is the euphoria of making it through the winter? We seem to lose a lot of birds to cars as well.
Exotic things, I am glad they added them to our wilderness some hundred years ago or so.
