I have a Canon 40D and just purchased some pocket wizards to fire off my Dyna lite external strobes which do not contain the built in pocket wizard option. The pocket wizards are brand new and are the Pocket Wizard plus II type.

The manual shows two ways of mounting the pocket wizards on the camera, the first by connecting it to the hot shoe and the second for those without a hot shoe you can connect it using the PC1 Sync cable.

When I tried the first option my external strobes did not fire and cannot get this to work at all. When I tried option two, everything worked great.

Is there a setting on the camera that needs to be turned on, or is something not touching to make the connection that others have had the same experience with?

I swapped around the units and had the same results, tried to tighten down the plastic knob as hard as I could, they are on the same channel and set to both.
