Is anybody familiar with the Crumpler 8 Million Dollar Home? I saw this on the BHPHOTO website and it says it will be available in April. Is this a brand new bag? It also says it will hold a DSLR w/grip and a 70-200 2.8 attached? Any thoughts or information? Thanks......

looks to be a deeper 7mdh
so it can attach a pro body with 70-200 lens attached

It is a new product and I am seriously considering it for times where I don't want to use my roller, when I only want to bring a portion of what I have.
It is a deeper bag as most of the complaints about the 7 is that the 7 can't house a gripped DSLR and the 70-200 (f. 2.8) attached. The 7 was a little too small to do it (it sort of protrudes a little and it is very snug), so they made the 8 a little deeper to address this.
I can't find any information on exact dimensions, so thanks for alerting us that B&H has it up on their website, I'll take a look to see if they have any posted dimensions.

Thanks for the info....I just yesterday purchased A Think Tank Urban Disguise 60 and left the tags on in case I want to return it. It is, of course of superior TT quality, however I am not convinced I am happy loading my gripped 5D with 70-200 IS 2.8 attached and the tight closure. I was hoping for a little more room in this respect. The bag, in and of itself is adequate in all repects of size....and now I come across the 8 Million Dollar Home. I am not familiar with Crumpler, only gave them a glance or two in the store. I have owned plenty of TT products and have been happy with all of them. My bag dilema continues...ugh!

I believe it will also hold your laptop without sacrificing space for camera gear...think I read something like that.

that is what i am planning to do with the 8mdh. hold my laptop and my gripped 40d. my 7mdh could do it but it was really pushing it. so my 7mdh will upgrade to 8mdh and 5mdh will upgrade to 6mdh.

There was some mention of a laptop, I honestly believe someone saw my review and took the idea because the mention of it speaks about sacrificing room unlike the Brazillion.
If you're as nit-picky as a blond in Hollywood shopping then the extra $30 for a few inches in height will be worth it. It is a 7MDH but taller. Very smart Crumpler. I wouldn't waste money on it though. The 7MDH has never shown a problem with camera and 70-200 attached not mentioning that it's only from point A to B then the camera an lens are out. a I should get paid for that idea. :(

_^^_ I agree with _aravena, It is not worth $30 as 7MDH can easily fit 70-200 attached and the new 2009 style has 2 buckles and lot more slack to comfortably hold the attached long lenses.

it should be able to hold bigger than 13" since my 7mdh can hold my 15" macbook pro.

by any chance would you have a picture of how your gripped camera with 70-200 (IS?) looks in the 7mDH... does it push flap up much?

true - the two buckles in the new 7mdh design should allow for more give in the center of the flap

i can put my 40D with 70-200 2.8 IS attached perfectly fit inside my 7MDH
and the velcro PERFECTLY closed.. without moving out any padding :)
gonna post the pic later.. :)
speaking about 8MDH, absolutely not going to be my choise..
yes, 8MDH is tall enough to put pro body+70-200 2.8 IS perfectly fit vertically in center compartement, but it`s no longer "casual" with the size
not have much different with my stealth reporter 650 AW, that`s why i choose to replace it with 7MDH..

Pic would be appreciated - I assume you have it in the bag lens down and therefore a grip attached to the camera would not be a prob. Also agree that the 7MDH is just about the limit for me as a casual walk around bag... the 8MDH is pushing it.

i place it horizontally, but it makes another lens/accesories with max height about 14cm only that can be fit vertically placed in other compartement..
as long u don`t have lens/stuffs that taller than 14cm, this way will be perfect

This is why I did not take to the 7, if laid horizontally, there's no room for anything else - I wanted a vertical fit - but I understand it's a trade off to how big of a bag to carry around. The 7 is a great solution if all you want to carry is the brick and the body for the day.
When I was considering the 7, I decided I had to have something else that could vertically fit the brick with the other lenses, after all, the 70-200 2.8 is alot of money, and I didn't want to risk anything happening to it. At that time, I went for the UD 40 (Think Tank). When I picked up the 120-300, the UD 40 became too small, so I sold it and went for the airport security, which is a tremendous bag to hold everything and locks for piece of mind. However, I am reconsidering crumpler with the 8, because the 120-300 is basically a sports lens, and I don't need to take the big security bag everywhere where there is no game. I personally think the extra deepness is a blessing and worth the extra money for the safety of the equipment. I read a post on bags here on POTN - I can't remember now where it was - that we want everything - to be able to stuff everything possible and yet - - have a smallish less clunky look. Physically it just can't happen in real life.......
Once I get a few expenses behind me (namely the recent purchase of the IIn), I might pick up the 8 as a secondary bag to those times when I do not need to lug the 120-300 around. I love my 70-200 and usually want to keep it with me at all times - it's probably my favorite lens )):::D

but 8 MDH and other crumpler`s similliar with it (that has 2 secure locks and 2 velcros) don`t have front pocket, right? :(
well, for me my 7MDH or other crumpler shoulderbag isn`t a perfect mate for long traveling.. i only use 7MDH when shooting soccer ..
while for traveling i prefer use my lowepro fastpack 350 :D
i`m kind of person that not too trust with a bag that doesn`t have a zipper like 7MDH if i wanna have a long traveling

I want to be able to carry a 5D gripped with a lens attached vertically, even if it's a 70-200L 2.8, along with a 16-35L, and a 24-70L, and maybe a tele-extender and down the road, maybe a fisheye. Possible put the 580EX in there when I need it. I want to be able to shoot from and change lenses from the bag without having a hard time while keeping it as low profile as possible....I'm really interested in seeing the 8MDH in person....might be a sale for me....

I never had a problem with it and I've used it for well over a year now at concerts, weddings, and other events changing lenses, carrying a camera + 70-200 etc. It's truly an awesome bag and I love it and won't get rid of it.
One the best things about it in which depth would do nothing is at weddings I can go and swap lenses so easily since it can stand on it's own since it's a box shape and not just long and I drop and swap.

I received an email from Crumpler USA confirming that on the 8 million dollar home, if the laptop sleeve is used, that cuts down on the interior space in the bag that can be used for storing camera equipment.
Hope this helps.

The new crumplers with 2 secure locks and 2 velcros do have front pocket with a mesh pocket inside the front pocket.

Got a message from B&H that the 8 Million Dollar Home is available now. Ordered a brown one with orange accents. Should be a nice change of pace from my Kata backpack.

New Delhi 510
The New Delhi is known around the office as the „3 in 1“ because it’s incredibly versatile and can be a laptop bag (for the bigger sizes at least), a photo bag or a whatever-you want sort of bag. In hindsight we should have called it the „Holy Trinity“ or somethinig like that instead of „The Delhi“ because it would have got the whole versatility angle across a whole lot better and the name is kinda catchy. We just didn’t think of it at the time, which is weird because four of us are Catholic.

Bringing back something day as to not start anything new...
Why is there nothing on the laptop compartment which no doubt some rep so me makeshift on here with the 7MDH. Also, why does it only hold 13" when mine hold a 14"? Still, I thought people bought this?
I'm debating on doing so and selling the 7MDH. I said I never would because of how I got it and the colors, but there is an orange and blue 8MDH.

it should be able to hold bigger than 13" since my 7mdh can hold my 15" macbook pro.
sdsviet, how did you fit your laptop into the 7MDH? Did the 7MDH come with a laptop divider? If not, do you let your camera equipment rub against your laptop?
I need a bag to store my body and a couple of lenses and my laptop, and I'm trying to find something that's not too big. Thanks.

there's enough dividers in there where u can make a slot of the laptop. u can fit a 15" laptop that's equivalent to my macbook pro and body and lens ungripped and a flash. maybe one more smaller lens like a 50 1.4 in there. i dont have the bag anymore so i can remember exactly what i can fit in there.

Thanks for the feedback. So I'm assuming you weren't concerned with the laptop hitting any of your other equipment while walking around? And if you "steal" the other dividers to isolate your laptop, was there enough to have separations between your body and lenses?

there's 2 big pieces that i put together to make a screen for teh laptop and the camera stuff doesnt really touch the laptop at all. then the remaining dividers i use to seperate spots for camera stuff.

Thanks, looks like I might go for this then. I don't think there exists a smaller shoulder bag to carry both laptop and camera equipment.
