Problems with my IXUS400

Hello,
I'm having problems with my IXUS400 - it does not power up and does not detect the CF card.

Wondering if how many other fellow owners of the IXUS400 have the same experience.

Any ideas what I can do to prevent this in future?

If its not powering up, how do you know the CF card is not being detected?

Check for broken/bent pins in the CF card slot...

Well, it powers up 2 out of 10 tries, and then it shows "Memory card error". I tried with a few CF cards and same thing happens. If CF is not inserted, no problem powering up at all!
