Hi Folks,
I thought I would share some of my shots from Heathrow with you as well. As always thoughts, comments, etc are most welcome :)
First up, a picture of the Emirates A380 departing.

A Boeing 757 departing into the sunset...

It's difficult to get decent shots at Heathrow due to the large amount of clutter on the top of buildings hence a shot of a BMI E145 with what looks like a load of stuff sticking out of it.

Anyway, I hope you like them
Kind Regards

Oh cool, that BMI ERJ just jumps out of the screen at you. What did equipment did you use for these shots. I was unable to see it in the EXIF data.

Niall

Hiya,
Really glad you like the shots and thank you for your comments. They were taken using a Canon EOS 40D with the 24-105 L series lens, shot in RAW and processed in Adobe Lightroom. There's been a reduction of vibrance with a push on the blue and the contrast turned up plus a bit of sharpening. The sky was done firstly with the gradient tool in order to reduce the brightness and then with the local adjustment brush to touch up. :)

Hi folks,
Firstly, thank you for the nice comments. Really appreciated :)
Secondly, I'm fortunate enough to be able to get out on the taxiways due to my job at Heathrow. It can be a bit of a challenge though trying to drive the vehicle and get the shots so a sensible approach to safety is always required, especially as one of the larger Airbus aircraft can easily sneak up on you without warning. My knowledge of the airfield helps me to predict what the traffic situation is around me and stay safe.
Kind Regards
Mark :)

First shot is interesting! Presumably he returned quickly when he realised he'd lost half his wing.

ahhh I've never noticed that before :)
No, it was a departure from runway 27R... Due to the layout of the taxiways and the holding points around there it is very difficult to get departure shots at the right angle and so you tend to lose that full on perspective across the wings. Anybody who has ever stood that close to an A380 departing will know how quiet it is... and also how HUGE it is as well. It's both terrifying and exciting at the same time :)

I assume you also have a radio in your vehicle and are monitoring the Ground Control frequency?

That is correct. All vehicles on the manoeuvring area are required to have radios fitted.... I have the advantage on most people though 'cause I'm an air traffic controller and so as such have a full understanding of the way the operation is running that day :)
Here are a few more for you... Taken yesterday :)
