How do zoom in when recording a movie

hello

I just bought the Canon IXUS 500 and i was wondering whether it is at all possible to zoom in whilst you are recording a movie. i know you can zoom before you record, but i don't know whether you can do so whilst recording a movie.

if so how do you do this, please help :)

When I had an IXUS (years ago) I remember this bugged me too. I believe Canon puts this restricition on movie mode because the zoom motor is rather loud and would drown out the audio being recorded.
