I guess I take 96 gigs. Laptop is always at least in the car.

I use dual 8 gig cards because they fill up at the same time when Im recording to multiple. Also, I only carry 6 because thats what the pixel rocket holds (5 of each and 1 of each in camera)

How many pictures depends on the ISO...

Camera: Mark III's
File Format: RAW
Resolution: whatever Mark III is...
Cards Carried: (6x) 8GB Extreme III SD, (6x) 8GB Extreme III CF
Image Capacity: ~who knows
Extra On-Site Capacity: Yes, laptop

I've got around 100 gigs of card memory. I usually have 32 gig cards in the cameras and I've never needed to switch cards. I'm just redundant. O.K., maybe a bit anal.;)

Need at least 1000 RAW captures... sometimes more... I use two 4 gig cards, and five 2 gig cards.

Recently, I laundered my 4gig card and am afraid to use/try it.

I carry two 40Ds, 8Gb in each, plus an 8Gb backup. More than enough for a day for me.

Two bodies, 8Gb in each and two more 8Gb plus the few 1Gb cards I have, in my bag. Rarely need to change cards at any event though but eighteen months ago had a card fail on me so the spares came in useful for that. Recently covered an all day junior football (soccer) tournament with that set up.

Ok reading this makes me seriously wonder what the hell you guys are doing.... Sure I shoot jpeg not raw, but still... For example for basketball, handball, volleyball, football (sorry soccer for some of you) I have 1GB CF card with me, and another 1GB SD card is always in my mk2. But SD card get very very little of usage, and even when it is used, it's because of my workflow, not because CF card would get full.
I agree for some other sports I have more memory with me, but I don't remember I would ever shoot more then 3 or 4GB at one event (7 hours long World championships cycling race with everything from pre-start portraits, race itself, features during and around race, to after race medal ceremony and stuff). Average for me during winter when shooting skiing is around 1.5GB per race (course inspection, 2 runs, medal ceremony etc.) and around 500MB when shooting sports like basketball, football, volleyball etc.. Afterall... why would I need more then 50 or 60 photos from one basketball match, when I need to send max. 20 of them? ;)
So seriously... anyone going to basketball match with 20GB memory, and thinking it might not be enough, should think again and watch "a little" bit when and how he or she is pressing shutter ;)

Camera: 400D
File Format: JPEG for sports
Resolution: 10MP
Cards Carried: 2 Sandisk Extreme III 4GB cards
Image Capacity: A wild guess: 1200-2000?
Extra On-Site Capacity: Laptop but I haven't needed it for sports, I have for an 8 hour music festival where I shot RAW and filled the 2 cards twice each

Since I've had the 2 cards, I've only shot one match and I didn't fill both. I'll probably buy one more 4GB or an 8GB later just to have some more memory so I don't always have to resort to my laptop.

Well I cover youth sports and performances. Parents expect more than 20 images from a game for their CD. Some tournaments I might cover 10+ games a day needing to get images of each team. Last Summer I took 20,000 images in 4 days. 250 ice skaters all performing 1-4 routines. Guarantee 30 images for each performance on a CD.... Pretty easy for me to fill up cards :) I have many times used all my cards in a day ...

Having said that those are not the norm. Typcially I put in two 8 gig cards for the day and thats all I need.

In my first indoor 3v3 soccer tournament (10 concurrent fields of play), shot in RAW on a 1DIII, I carried 12 Gigs worth of cards and had to dump at lunch time for a total of 18 Gigs that day. Next time I will shoot JPEG and carry 20 gigs worth of cards so that I don't have to dump (I am afraid that I may mess something up and accidentally delete the wrong pictures )

For sports I never shoot anything other than jpeg....... I am anal about have more than enough memory with me-- heck it is cheap now a days-- no reason not to have lot of memory. That being said-- I usually have 16 gig cards in my bodies-- and thinktank pixel pocket rocket with assorted cards from 2/4/8/16 gigs.

Wow, thats a lot. I usually take a 2GB card, and a 4GB card. I usually shoot JPG though, and I use the 8.2MP XT, so the images aren't that big. I imagine I'd need more if I shot RAW, and/or used a camera with more MP.
